Director, School for Little Children Preschool

DESCRIPTION

Bellaire United Methodist Church (Bellaire, TX) is seeking a full-time Director to lead our School for Little Children Preschool. The aim of the program is to nurture children by providing a supportive environment for physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth in the lives of young children. The ideal candidate is experienced, energetic, and passionate about early childhood education and will be a strong team builder who encourages, equips, and develops a dedicated staff. This person will implement and oversee all aspects of the school’s ministry in ways that deepen faith formation and respond to the hopes and needs of children and their parents in Bellaire and surrounding neighborhoods.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  1. Supervise the care and teaching of the children in the program to assure that the best possible learning experiences are being provided and that children’s needs are being met.
  2. Interpret to the parents, congregation and community the goals and vision of the School for Little Children program.
  3. Collaborate with program staff and church leadership to connect children and families with the broader ministry of the church when appropriate.
  4. Ensure that the facility and program meet all standards as set forth by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and any accrediting agencies so desired by the church.
  5. Interview, select, and screen all staff according to the qualifications and job descriptions developed and approved by the School for Little Children Board.
  6. Develop an annual budget for the School for Little Children program that shall adequately cover the expenses for salaries, materials, and an agreed upon donation to the church to help defray utilities and other facilities costs.
  7. Enroll children, keep required records, and collect and record tuition.
  8. Attend to other duties as may be assigned by the senior pastor and appropriate for the skills of the individual.

Assistant Director, School for Little Children Preschool

DESCRIPTION

Bellaire United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas is seeking a part-time (25 hours per week) Assistant Director to help lead our School for Little Children Preschool. The aim of the program is to nurture children by providing a supportive environment for physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth in the lives of young children. The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, and experienced in early childhood education. He or she will demonstrate interpersonal and multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a collegial manner with a variety of people. This person will assist the Director in implementing the School for Little Children program of the church.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain personnel files and training records for School for Little Children teachers and employees.
  2. Procure supplies and equipment for the program, classrooms, and teachers.
  3. Prepare monthly payroll documents for Bellaire UMC Business Manager.
  4. Assist Director in registration and enrollment.
  5. Receive, approve, and file lesson plans.
  6. Assist Director in classroom observations and teacher training.
  7. Assist Director in interviewing and hiring teachers.
  8. Attend to other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Pastor or Director and appropriate for the skills of the individual.

Administrative Assistant, School for Little Children Preschool

DESCRIPTION

Bellaire United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas is seeking a part-time (25 hours per week) Administrative Assistant for our School for Little Children Preschool. The aim of the program is to nurture children by providing a supportive environment for physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth in the lives of preschoolers. The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, experienced in office administration, and proficient with both computers and other common office equipment. A working knowledge of basic accounting is a plus. In addition, the Administrative Assistant should demonstrate interpersonal and multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a collegial manner with a variety of people.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ensure that the school office is friendly and efficient, with the goal of making all visitors feel welcome and cared for in Christ.
  2. Answer phones and receive visitors to the school.
  3. Work with Director and Assistant Director to coordinate office needs and maintain adequate supplies for office administration.
  4. Coordinate scheduling, registration, and enrollment procedures.
  5. Maintain enrollment and attendance records.
  6. Administer weekly Stay and Play program.
  7. Assist Director in preparing annual budget for the School for Little Children.
  8. Post and record all tuition receipts and expenses related to school administration.
  9. Review financial statements for church business administrator and School for Little Children Board of Directors.
